E3 2019: Marvel's Avengers to launch in May 2020
11 June 2019 – by Jack Taylor
Square Enix has revealed that Marvel's Avengers, its new Avengers story, launches on 15 May next year.
Marvel's Avengers takes place five years after the Avengers are blamed for a deadly catastrophe, resulting in superheroes being outlawed and the team disbanded; the Avengers must reassemble when the world again falls into danger.
The game is a collaboration between Square Enix and Marvel, and is being developed primarily by Crystal Dynamics with support from Eidos Montréal, Crystal Northwest, and Nixxes Software.
Planned as a multi-year project, new superheroes and regions will be provided to players at no additional cost, allowing everyone to play on equal ground, with Crystal Dynamics also confirming that there will be no loot boxes or pay-to-win scenarios.
A partnership with Sony has also been announced, with more details to follow about "surprises" for players on PlayStation 4.
Marvel's Avengers launches on 15 May 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
